The Char Fasson Orphanage can serve as a base for conducting many kinds of research. As a low-lying island in the delta, environmental researchers will be interested in studying this area to learn about how people have been influenced by and forced to adapt to the climatologically changing situation. Char Fasson can also be an important place to conduct disaster management and relief research, because it has twice been at the center of a major cyclone (1970 and 1991). Since then, little work has been done to protect the people in the area from future natural disasters. Those interested in the educational systems of other countries will also find much to observe and learn here.
